I’ve been so busy preparing to attend my first blogger event this week with Mumsnet (I’ll tell you more about it very soon) and so I’ve spent a lot of time going through my filming checklist, leaving our dinner yet another after thought and to stay on plan, I had it in the bag with another convenient Iceland Slimming World range review.
So today, it’s about their Chunky Tomato Sauce that will set you back £1.50 and personally we think serves two. I have to say, this was much of an improvement on yesterday’s Spicy Tikka Masala review and was full of flavour. It was a pleasant Italian style sauce, ideal for a spaghetti bolognese as we did, or perhaps meatballs? Again, I picked it up in the freezer section which can be popped straight in the microwave to heat through, but out of habit, I defrosted mine instead and added it to my cooked mince meat and onions. Note: we cooked ours with 500g of mince beef, so it may look more red if using 250g instead.
Would I buy it again? Well, although I loved the flavour and it did make my life a little bit easier, I honestly think whipping one up myself is not much more time consuming. Just saute some onions and garlic, then chuck some tinned tomato, dried basil, maybe a dash of Worcestershire sauce and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Done. So no, I don’t think I would but I was still curious to give it a whirl. I am however extremely grateful for another syn free option on the market that helped me save about 5 minutes.
