I was delighted to receive more press passes this year so I could pop along to the BBC Good Food Winter Show. Having gone with my fiance in the Summer, we realised that paying a visit on Saturday or Sunday was more busy than we anticipated and with that in mind, I thought it was wise to go on Thursday as soon as it opened. Luck would have it one of my favourite chefs, Lorraine Pascale were taking centre on 3 occasions: a cooking demonstration from her latest book, Eating Well Made Easy, an interview and book signing.
So here’s the vlog from the day which you should definitely watch! I pretty much scheduled my day around her sightings since I owe gratitude to her for reigniting my love of cooking when I first moved in with my boyfriend and bought a copy of what is now a tatty spillage-ridden copy of her cookbook, Home Cooking Made Easy. But now it’s no ordinary stained book, it’s a signed book and I will keep it forever and maybe one day pass it on. The recipes are so much fun to make too, from delicious slow roast pork with home made gravy to naughty but easy chocolate fudge and of course so much more.
And because I blog at home which can be rather lonesome (but admittedly peaceful), I randomly befriended a lovely girl called Amy as we shared a passion for Lorraine’s recipes and swapped recipe suggestions; she was even so kind to be my on the spot camera-woman while I got my booked signed too. Once again, thank you so much, Amy!
There were also the usual food sampling and purchases; absolutely nothing healthy here unless you reward yourself with pure peanut butter from Yorskhire… oh yes, nowt but nuts! And my main buy was a pair of cheese mill graters which apparently can grate almost anything such as nuts, biscuits, chocolate or even hard boiled eggs, so I am looking forward to having less cheese residue fingers.
But finally, I also got to meet my first YouTuber, Foodie Laura, who I have been watching all through the Summer while she films growing food in her allotment. I actually discovered her on a YouTube search for the BBC Good Food Summer show that I went to and instantly subscribed as we had so much in common, so it was great to meet her at this event. Unlike myself, she still grows food but unfortunately I have other commitments on renovating so hopefully this will change in the near future.
And if you’re not subscribed to my YouTube channel, then go and do it now so you can get instant alerts when my next video is up, which is every Friday at 6pm!)
