It’s very cool to see a swarm of people this weekend joining my I LOVE SW Soup Facebook group after Christmas. And it seems a few of you were treated this year to a shiny new Morphy Richards Soup Maker. I’m sorry to those who weren’t so lucky but don’t worry, you can still make soup with the rest of us; it’s not totally necessary but they are a great helping hand in the kitchen for those who are super busy.
So to kick start a new you for a new year, I’ve put together three must have soups to answer one of the most frequently asked questions: What soup recipes can you recommend to help boost weight loss?
Ideally you want to left satisfied and stay fuller for longer and would recommend all of my soup recipes which should help contribute; if you’re a newbie here, I don’t cook with fats nor do you need to for great tastes. But if you want quicker results, then I always prefer one that is full of flavour, light and ups my water intake. Don’t be fooled thinking one bowl should fill you though; I never share these types of soups below with family members and often eat the lot spread from mid to late lunch until I’m full. And there’s no guilt, I promise!
So the first one that is fresh on my mind is my chicken, ginger and lemon bowl of health. It may not look sexy here but it is incredibly delicious like a party in the mouth. Turmeric is your best friend here too to aid the digestive system which I recently learnt is an anti inflammatory. Don’t be afraid to swap the vegetables for what you have in too. Soup making shouldn’t be a special occasion, just slip it in to your every day routine as with any healthy eating.
Another recommendation for a boost is my red pepper and broccoli soup with not a carb in sight! It is chocabloc with vegetables and nutrients yet filling and tasty. This is a perfect example how the oven takes over too; just leave the skin on your garlic and onions, chop some veg and leave to roast while you Potter around.
And finally, one I had huge results with was my farmhouse country vegetable soup. It’s not strictly light but the pulses are a best friend to banish any sweet cravings you may have. Again, this is not a pretty one but it gets the job done; just keep your spices and fresh herbs at the ready to adapt the flavour to suit your taste.
