Usually, my birthday starts off with waking up in our campervan amongst some beautiful scenery and then we set off on yet another adventure exploring a new place with our dog by foot. But since it fell on a Monday this year, it meant my fiance had to go to work, to which I took advantage of having the house to myself for some DIY pampering at home.
It started with a rewarding sesh of Day 1 of Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred (sweaty proof above). Since our kitchen has been a working progress, we seen the bottom of fish and chip packets, pizzas etc, and then came Christmas. Let’s just say my jeans have started to feel uncomfortable so I thought I’d take some action and refresh myself for 2016.
Then for a bit of cheesy 60s films while I painted my nails! I dipped in to my £2 charity shop Doris Day Essential DVD collection. They story lines are so silly but Day’s independent, charming and gumption brimming characters she plays.
My nails were painted with using a fabulous gel nail and uv lamp starter kit my fiance had bought. I can finally have more hard wearing nails and hopefully they will last for up to 3 weeks at a time. I’m so thankful to all those that recommend this Bluesky range; I had my doubts because there are plentiful on ebay cheap, but a thumbs up so far from here!
Then for a bit of hair curling fun. I find this rather tedious when curls tend to fall out of my hair within the hour, so I asked for this dupe for the Babyliss Curl Secret hair curler which is a fraction of the price. So far, I’m impressed that my curls stayed put through the night, but it’s no quick worker. It’s ideal if you don’t mind half watching the telly while you work away but hopefully I will get quicker at it the more I try. I soon realised that although my hair is really fine and thin, there’s lots of it.
Then finally for the Indian meal takeaway treat from Spice & Bull in Nuneaton recommended by food blogger, She Cooks She Eats. I really wanted to eat at home and not rack up a drinks bill with all the home improvements we have going on at the minute and this was just what I fancied!
