My nails are a far cry than what they used to be so I’m rather excited I feel a monthly varnish theme coming. It used to be a pointless exercise, painting my not-so-talon nails, only to be chipped within a matter of hours. I’m a bit of a heavy handed in tomboy fashion and always have been (I’m putting that down to growing up with an older brother). I always wonder what I’d be like if I had a sister and what tricks I would’ve learnt sooner; I know, I know; I wouldn’t be the same person today, but it’s still nice to imagine.
And clumsy fingers hasn’t really boded well for pretty nails, or at least until now with my nails of steel. This is my 2nd month of using my Gel UV lamp starter kit after getting my birthday wish last month, and well, as you say, the rest is history. If this sounds like you at all, I 100% recommend trying it, or even at least getting them done at the salon to sample first.
It’s a bit of an investment kit because obviously you’ll save money in the long run, but when I tried my the Bluesky Princess glittery pink shade in January, I was amazed it lasted an impressive 4 weeks and took several beatings, even while precariously chopping veg. The only reason I moved on to a new colour was because they were growing out, and let’s face it, it was far too tempting to buy new some colours.
This month’s shade is another cheapie but this time from W7 in Purple Sparks, but also picked up the Silver for March. I like how I’m now confident enough to plan ahead! After buying them on impulse, I then did the backwards thing of doing post-purchase research. I was really worried to hear people’s were peeling off, but these were bought in the W7 Kit, so perhaps one to avoid, because I’m now realising, it’s the Bluesky Base and Top Coat that are worth their weight in gold.
This kit excites me so much, I keep imagining taking it up North to give my mum a little pampering treat, (if she’ll let me that is). Oh and by the way, if you want to be my adoptive sister and share me your tips, please tell me what they are. And hopefully with nails and I, (couldn’t resist the pun), we will see this Friday at 6pm in our next video, ready for action!
