If you hadn’t noticed, last night I uploaded a double whammy set of videos on my YouTube channel featuring an unboxing of a mahoosive 8.5kg Muscle Food meat delivery and a bonus recipe in Part 2. I just thought it would have been too long to keep anyone’s focus and it made sense broken up. And since I’ve been getting in to a healthy habit of filming and scheduling my content early, it’s allowed me to give a more in depth review on their bulk-buy meat-on-wheels service that saves you money.
I don’t know about you, but it’s actually been quite some time since I bought meat in bulk from a supermarket (other than from the reduced section of course). And once word got around about a meat wholesalers near my Slimming World group, many of us have been saving the cash, freezer bags in hand and stocking up ever since. Here’s the last meat haul I shared. Who says healthy eating has to be expensive? And there’s a whole lotta range going on on the Musclefood website which has left me rather curious, particularly their Protein Pizzas; it’s the sort of website you need to shop over a cuppa (or two) or hope they branch out to stores browse around in.
And I didn’t just receive meats either; I was totally surprised to find a love set of three Guilt Free Syrups tucked under the packaging which I’ve really loved perking up my morning porridge, but I’ll save this for a separate blog post very soon.
As for shipping meats; I clap my hands together at a company that can deliver fresh goods with frozen ice bags intact all the way from Nottingham. Super organisational skills come to mind; the job role scares me. And it bodes well that it delivered on the exact day they said it would.
Everything looked extremely lean and pure, as did the taste and the Marinated Lime & Chilli Chicken Breasts were the best I’d ever tasted in the form of yesterday’s Healthy KFC Style Chicken Nuggets Recipe. The extra lean mince meat and sirloin steaks were also a favourite of ours, but when it comes to the hashe steaks in Turkey and Beef, I wish I’d have seasoned them before cooking because I like a kick, but don’t get me wrong, they cooked in to chunky wholesome burgers cooked on a baking tray at 200 degrees for 30 minutes and incredibly filling. Next time, I think I’ll use the lean mince beef to make my own, following one of their healthy recipes by well known chefs, like Lorraine Pascale (a favourite of mine).
The only thing I haven’t tried yet are the 2.5kg bags of chicken and the sausages. I’m rather particular with the latter, so they’ll be interesting to try and let you know but usually buy ones with at least 90% meat where as their low fat ones are 75%.
All in all, I think it’s a great idea and am already planning on stocking up on their cheaper mince meat and whatever else catches my eye when I’m meat-dry.
