Here's our family favourite pimped up mash potatoes using King Edward potatoes.  It's a very easy minimal effort recipe made in the slow cooker for less washing up and no draining needed!

Servings: 5 people
  • 2 kg King Edward potatoes peeled & chopped in to small chunks
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • Dash Pepper
  • 825 ml skimmed milk or a mix of water & milk
  • 1 tbsp English mustard (optional)
  • 80 g low fat cheddar cheese finely grated (optional)
  • 1 tbsp low fat margarine (optional)
  1. Place the potatoes in the slow cooker and add the salt,pepper and 350ml of the milk (or water if you wish).

  2. Give everything a good stir, place the lid on top and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

  3. Remove the lid and give everything a good mash.

  4. Now gradually stir in the milk until you get the consistency you want.

  5. If using, stir in the cheese, mustard and margarine, or whatever you wish to make your favourite mash and serve.
