Mazda Bongo Kitchen Tour

Well, I never thought I'd be writing about a new Mazda Bongo kitchen before our actual house kitchen remodel. For those who don't know, we have a Mazda Bongo pop top campervan. Although, we started with a Ford Freda, which was pretty much the same.

And after looking for a Mazda Bongo kitchen unit for sale on ebay, we picked one for about £200. It's also a Bongo rear kitchen, which we like as we pull the middle seats out to sleep.

You can also buy other types, such as a Mazda Bongo overhead cupboard. It just depends where you prefer for sleeping in a Mazda Bongo. We used to sleep in the back, we've slept in the pop up roof.

But it's not just kitchen cupboards, it also has a bespoke and rare wardrobe, sink, twin gas hob with a fridge underneath and so much more room to store food, clothes, still with space to walk through or sit and cook. I've been in element, I can tell you.

We live for weekends in the camper. The beach is where you'll find us most of the time, either trekking down a coastal path with the dog or cooking outdoors amongst the mountains. But now, of course, I don't have to worry about cooking outdoors with our old mobile Stimson cooking station unit which have served us well over the last few years.

And of course, I've already started to film some healthy recipes in my new boudoir... sometimes when you're hiking for miles, it's not always possible but what I love about it is that there'll be something studentesque about it for those who don't like to slave over a stove, or perfect for those short of time and perhaps money.

In fact, to celebrate my cooking stints over the weekend, you may have heard a shout out from Liza Tarbuck on Radio 2 around 7pm on Saturday 27th Feb who read out my email while we were in Watchet, Somerset near Kevin McCloud's Man Made Home; Note: if you want to hear the radio clip now, then the episode is here (37 minutes in) but I coincidentally got it on video for a vlog very soon on YouTube while I filmed myself cooking "Swedish Metals"... (Swedish Meatballs). You'll need to listen to find out!

And to get my cooking station in full-swing mode, I somehow managed to spend a total of £76 in B&M to buy absolutely loads of tupperware to store spices and store cupboard essentials, lunch boxes for hikes; the list goes on. There's still a few bits I'm looking out for to replace the old; (apparently I was 2 weeks early for their camping accessories launch), but we have everything we need so we're well fed, watered and stay safe and warm.

I did pick a few bits soon after at Asda but certainly didn't find as much, although a £2 tupperware box full of muffins did feel like a kill two birds with one stone moment... of weakness(!) But emergency snacks are perfect when you're on the road. And it's worth noting that Kingsmill Wholemeal Thins are ideal camping bread buddies to make a packed lunch because they're already squashed!

All we have to do now is plan where we're going and keep following the good weather!
