When I was old enough to start window shopping, I'd always look out for Denby's Fire Chilli collection with its rustic tones and bespoke swirly details.
They looked and felt so luxurious, unlike anything I'd ever seen before.
And although my tastes have changed since, once my fiance and I moved in together, we headed to the Denby Visitor's Centre to pick our first as a couple which turned out to be the Halo range.
(The phrase child in a sweet shop comes to mind!) In fact, if you hadn't noticed, the range is my most featured piece of crockery with its graduated black to grey style and love how they're all kinds of safe for to bake from, or in the freezer, dishwasher and microwavable. And what's better still, they're all made right here in England and 'up North' where we call home.
And last month Denby ran a competition to win their latest Natural Canvas 16 piece set (I'm sure you can see where this is going) and a bonus weekend away in a Matlock cottage. And to take part, I tweeted a picture of my Carrot & Coriander recipe that I'd made for my soon to be published Soup Maker Recipe eBook and I won! 🙂
So it only made sense that this Friday's YouTube video wall about about unboxing my new set and how it's a range that's hot off the press.
The set is a refreshing change from my Halo set in natural creams and beige tones. Although I've only owned them a short time, photos already tell me they're great alongside textured detail on the dinner table Think linens napkins and natural place mats or even my shabby chic food tray for fun food styling!
We're also particularly loving these large mugs which offer a real sized drink if you love a good cuppa. They feel much more modern when held against our rounder halo numbers, but it's left me hanging for more after seeing their sister's textured chevron design to match too. (And their oh so elegant cafetiere for our morning coffees before work).
The set also comes with smaller side plates and larger dinner plates with very subtle and elegant grain detail on the rim. There's only one snag for us in the plates department and that is since we've bought a new dishwasher, we've noticed our larger Denby plates get in the way of the jet sprays meaning we've recently been favouring our medium size Halo ones instead. But because the range beyond this set is so big, we know we can pick some extras to suit us.
And lastly, did you see the Channel 4 programme, What Britain Buys the other night? Well Mary Portas told us that the trendiest thing to eat from these days is a bowl; (I must admit, I flicked through my Instagram to have a peek). It seemed that I too am another one of those frequent contributors. I didn't really I'd been favouring mostly using bowls but I do think they make so many of my meals look more aesthetically pleasing. And although you can't see it in this photo (I'm still practising with my manual setting), the Natural Canvas' bowls feature a beautiful outer grainy detail that impresses me the most.
If you do get a chance to pay a visit to their Pottery Village, it's a great afternoon tea day out at their lush cafe, all served on hand crafted stoneware.
When we do take up our weekend break, I am sure we'll also be paying a visit and picking up a few more pieces for our new set.
