So it seems that I am catching up for lost time in the blogging world today while I rest off a cold… at least you can’t catch this virus online. You’re better off without!
At some point this week before I did fall ill, I decided to film me making a typical syn free working lunch from home which I normally do.
In fact, I think it’s safe to say that as a Slimming World target member since May 2014, during the week I have been eating a low syn menu. And as you will see from my YouTube channel and vlogs that when it comes to the weekend, I find my fiancé’s food suggestions quite hard to resist – McDonald’s weekend breakfasts or takeaways. Which brings me to the reminder that I always play in my head, which is my Slimming World consultant saying I can be a bit more flexible -particularly at weekends.
With this in mind and wearing a fitbit (that grey thing on my wrist in videos) – this step counter is synced with myfitnesspal which I log all of my foods in. This extra function in my life has given me more accuracy of my body magic (the Slimming World 30mins a day exercise you’re meant to have.
After all, everyone’s activities vary from one person to the next and one may not know how much calories you are burning off – too little or too much.
My focus on the fitbit all started when I struggled to lose my last 1lb with SW. I am a big eater, and every morning I would eat a healthy but still calorific syn free Full English Breakfast… Bacon, sausages, eggs, beans,, little fried potatoes… and they were getting bigger and bigger. When I logged my breakfast, I was shocked to realise I consumed 1000 calories every morning. Slimming World facebook groups were stunned at my breakfast photos… “You can’t eat all that, surely?”…. “Oh yes, I most certainly can”.
What the NHS point out with SW is the con that it does not teach people about counting calories, which I have realised why consultants say things are to be eaten “in moderation”.
And so I have now switched to porridge each morning, my pasta lunch I will give you the recipe for from my tuna sweetcorn mayo style video. I do vary the fish & veg ingredients daily to prevent boredom but I am never without dried pasta and fat free natural yoghurt in my fridge. It is my staple.
I still generally follow Slimming World, but I see the flexible side useful to eat back the calories I have burnt from running, being on my feet most of the day – I didn’t realise how active I actually was. Running has only recently been introduced in my life since the Summer of 2014.
I go for a run, I can eat a chocolate bar. That’s how my theory goes.
So anyway, let’s get to the syn free lunch recipe which I am surprised to say I have never seen this anywhere so I made it up:
The ingredients you will need:
-80g dried pasta (recommended per person)
200g fat free yoghurt (less for a sandwich filler)
-tin of drained tuna flakes
-half tin of sweetcorn
-vinegar, salt & lemon juice to taste
-First cook your pasta
-Mix 200g of yoghurts with the tuna, half tin sweetcorn and your desired amount of sweetcorn, salt & vinegar.
Mix all together & serve!
