This chocolate Malteser tiffin recipe is a family favourite fridge cake recipe made simply with melted chocolate, mixed with crushed biscuits and whole Maltesers.

I've made this Malteser chocolate tiffin many times and it honestly never fails to please a crowd.
In fact, one year, I put them in little party food bags, tied with ribbon as part of a Christmas food hamper and everybody loved them!
So I'm going to it with you along with some tips.

Which Chocolate Should I Use?
More often than not, I tend to buy the cheapest chocolate as it can get expensive when you're making several for gifts. I've also made it with Cadbury's milk chocolate, but our all time favourite it Galaxy chocolate.
What Types of Biscuits?
Any biscuit will work! More often than not, I use plain digestive biscuits, but milk chocolate-covered ones work perfect, too. You could also try rich tea biscuits, shortbread cookies and hob nobs work as well.
Note: You can also brush in some Maltesers, but honestly, I don't think you'll notice them. As they're more expensive, I prefer to use only crushed digestive and mix in whole Maltesers.

Do I Need a Food Processer?
Absolutely not. While a food processor will create a more even, sold and dense texture throughout, it can be quite a therapeutic task bashing biscuits in a food bag using a rolling pin. Or sometimes I do it in a bowl using the bottom of a mug.
Also, sometimes I quite like the uneven pebbles being visible with each bite. But that's where the whole maltesers come in!
Can I Make it a Malteser Rocky Road?
Yes! Just mix in a handful of mini marshmallows and raisins and you're there!
📖 Recipe

Chocolate Malteser Tiffin Recipe
Ingredients
- 250 g Milk chocolate
- 100 g Butter diced
- 2 tablespoon Golden syrup
- 260 g Chocolate digestive biscuits
- 60 g Maltesers left whole
- 50 g Raisins
Topping
- 250 g Milk chocolate
- 60 g Maltesers
Instructions
- First things first, you need to butter and line a baking tray with baking parchment. A 20cm square tin or 9" round cake tin is perfect.
- Now whiz the digestive biscuits and 135g of maltesers in a food processor until you have fine breadcrumbs. If you don't have one, then place in a large bowl or food bag and bash with a rolling pin and transfer to a large mixing bowl. (Some chunks are fine so don't worry too much).
- Now stir in the raisins and the whole maltesers you held back. (Feel free to be creative here; you could add some marshmallows, soft nuts like walnuts or whatever you sweet treats you like).
- Now to make the base: Chuck the chocolate, butter and honey in to microwaveable bowl and microwave every 15 seconds, stirring in between until everything is smooth and melted.
- Then pour in to the biscuit crumbs and mix well until everything is coated and transfer to your lined tin, smoothing over with the back of a spoon.
- Now melt the chocolate for the topping in short 15 second bursts in the microwave until melted and pour over the base and smooth over again.
- Press the maltesers on top and leave to set and cut into bite size pieces. Note: it's easier to cut at room temperature, otherwise it can break.
