I am a great believer that if you’re ill, your body will retain water and hinders your weight loss results.
And over the last few weeks, I’ve been rather poorly with a cold and sore knees after a fall.
So, despite sticking to the plan 100%, it wouldn’t budge. I even thought the scales would say the same old stubborn number as I haven’t quite fully recovered yet.
But to my surprise, I lost 4lb! WOOHOO! It was exactly what I needed to hear for a positive boost.
And as a refresher for us all and to educate any newbies in the group, our consultant talked us through the food optimisation steps, page by page.
I am guilty of not really looking through my books as soon as I get home as I know the plan (naughty, I know), but I hadn’t realised that 1 litre of unsweetened Alpro almond milk was one person’s healthy extra A!
IT’S A TWEAK IF NOT USING YOUR HEALTHY EXTRA A
I’d previously heard people talking in my group about using it in a slow cooker rice pudding recipe, but a whole litre for a healthy choice had never come up. So making this was a MUST!
However, if NOT making it with your Healthy Extra A, then it would be synful as it’s easy to overeat.
So, to protect your weight loss, it’s best to eat sensibly and in moderation. I’m personally going to use a quarter of my Healthy Extra A allowance towards this and use my remaining allowance say on cheese or milk towards another meal.
SYN FREE SWEETENER
As you know, sweeteners now have to be synned.
However, one that I love is Teisseire’s Gourmet Drops. They’re syn free as there’s zero calories and perfect for travelling due to their size and leak-proof lid. I just wish they sold them in bigger bottles and were back in supermarkets for easy pick-ups.
I used to buy them a couple of years ago in Asda for our morning camper van coffees, but sadly they’re now only available online. Hopefully that will change sometime soon. And, it tasted great in rice pudding as it’s naturally flavoured. I’m sure you like them.

Slimming World Syn Free Slow Cooker Rice Pudding
- 4 oz pudding rice (Or 114g)
- 1 litre Alpro unsweetened almond milk (1 litre = 1 person's HE A allowance)
- Sprinkle cinnamon
- 1 tsp Teisseire Gourmet Drops (Syn Free) Or your own choice of sweetener
- Place everything in a slow cooker.
- Place the lid on and cook on low for 3 hours and serve.

TWEAK INFORMATIONIf not using Alpro unsweetened almond milk as your Healthy Extra A, then cooked rice pudding is considered as a "tweak".
