I hate cleaning. It's a job that will always be there and you never have anything produuctive to show for at the end. My fiancée usually tidies up after me after I've cracked on with a job he wouldn't want to do, for example, painting walls, making sun roof blinds for the conservatory and cooking.
So it wouldn't be a surprise to know that once I learn a miraculous cleaning technique that saves me time and effort, I'm all over it. I have wasted hours cleaning out my oven or grill rack from my oven microwave in the past trying to scour any burnt marks off; if I knew then what I know now, I would have done myself a favour. And so I'm sharing it with you.
I've heard a few tips along the way such as boiling a pan with distilled vinegar or soaking a pan in baking soda; all of which I have never tried because I love my method so much.
Here is my method for my Morphy Richards Original Soup Maker which occasionally has burnt but this method is non abrasive and the enzymes will break down the burnt and turn it in to scum and washes off. I've also done this several times with oven racks and a huge bucket to save money on oven cleaner (I usually use Mr Muscle's oven cleaner for walls of my oven).
What you will need:
-⅔rd cup biological washing powder (cheap is fine)
-boiling water about 1-2" deep
Method:
Soak overnight and give it a scrub with a non-metal scrubbing brush or brillo pad. You do not want to risk ruining the element at the bottom. You may need to repeat the process if you have some stubborn burnt left but mine only took one night.
This will save you so much time and hassle and you'll know what to do the next time this may happen. Side note: stay away from baked beans when using your soup maker.
Happy souping!
