🛒 Ingredient Notes
Please see the printable recipe card with exact measurements and preparation instructions with nutritional data at the bottom of this post.

Avocado - I use fresh, or you can use 5oz (140g) frozen avocado chunks, defrosted
Extra virgin olive oil - or olive oil for a silky smooth homemade dressing while also adding heart healthy fats such as omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Or replace it with 1 cup of cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds, and water
Apple cider vinegar - this is for a sweet tang. I use organic apple cider with mother which is cloudy with its friendly bacteria left in to help support the digestive and immune system
Seasoning - this is sea salt and black pepper. If your taste buds are sensitive to salt or pepper, I recommend adding only a small pinch before blending and tasting. Or add ranch seasoning
Lime juice (and zest if you wish) - for a citrusy sweet tang, which offers vitamin C and antioxidants. Or you can use lemon juice or 1 teaspoon of tamarind paste
Fresh cilantro leaves (coriander) - to enhance the citrus notes, or swap for a bunch of mint leaves or any fresh herbs you prefer
📋 Instructions

1. Place all of the ingredients in a food processor or container for an immersion blender.

2. Blend until smooth with a food processor or stick blender.
Tip - you can adjust the consistency of the dressing by adding more or less water depending on your preference

👩🍳 Substitutions
Depending on your dietary needs, here are a few simple swaps you can make to this avocado salad dressing:
Avocado - you can swap for silken tofu, or canned cannellini beans if not on a keto diet but are on a low fat diet (as this will increase the total carbs) or cream cheese if not following a vegan diet. Another no oil salad dressing swap you can make is to add ½ teaspoon to 240ml of water
Apple cider vinegar - this can either be sherry vinegar, white wine vinegar, grape vinegar, etc for a sweet but tangy avocado sauce recipe
Lime - swap for lemon if more accessible. You can also use jarred lime or lemon juice
Extra virgin olive oil - other oils you can use are plain olive oil, walnut, avocado oil, melted coconut oil, etc
Balsamic vinegar - swap for any low carb sweet ingredients such as keto honey or maple syrup
Water - for a creamier texture, feel free to swap for unsweetened almond milk, sour cream, plain yogurt or vegan mayonnaise, etc
Salt and pepper - swap salt for a dash of low sodium soy sauce, white pepper, chili powder, red pepper flakes, etc
Cilantro (coriander) - if you're not a cilantro fan, you can add fresh parsley, mint, oregano, etc to your creamy avocado sauce

⚖️ Variations
Here are some different ways you can enhance and truly personalise this healthy salad dressing recipe for next time:
Seasoned - add a pinch of onion powder, garlic powder or a fresh garlic clove - just have fun making the perfect salad dressing to suit your tastes!
Guacamole dressing: stir in some finely diced tomatoes, red onions, chili flakes at the end and enjoy with tortilla chips
French avocado dressing - another great option is to add some dijon mustard, or English mustard and runny honey for heat

Measuring spoons - for easy measuring, or you can use kitchen scales
