Here, I finally share with you our favourite Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese recipe. It’s been a long time coming, but this Italian dish proves Syn Free dishes don’t necessarily need hidden fats.
I suppose like many families out there, we love a quick and easy Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese. It’s an easy recipe to fall back on if you haven’t planned anything fancy, or you’re just short of time.
It’s also great for batch cooking, so I’ll share some of my storing tips further below. And we love how it’s family friendly, but you could add more veg here, a little less sauce there.

Can You Eat Spaghetti on Slimming World?
Yes, you absolutely can eat spaghetti on Slimming World. Syn Free spaghetti (and pasta) is usually from the dry store cupboard aisles. However, you will need syn fresh prepacked pasta as they usually have oil in them.
But, to protect your weightloss, it is best to portion it out. We find 80g per person is more than enough. And some say 60g which isn’t quite enough.
If you are worried you’ll be left hungry, you can always add an extra portion of speed food, such as salad. But there’s quite a bit of protein in this dish and it fills us up well!
Is Quorn Mince Free on Slimming World?
Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese doesn’t need to be beef. If you’re vegetarian, you could opt for Quorn mince.
Although a dryer texture, it is Syn Free. And I love how it can be cooed straight from frozen and no need to defrost.
You will also want to substitute the beef stock for vegetable or bouillon powder.
Syn Info For Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese
As long as you’re sticking with 5% fat mince meat or less and low calorie oil spray, then Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese can be Syn Free. The the only thing you may need to syn is the sprinkle of parmesan on top.
However, you the good news is, there are some brands available where you can eat 30g as part of your Healthy Extra A! If you have already used it up, then this recipe use 30g between 4 people. This would mean each portion is 1.5 Syns eachs.
If in doubt, then as a paying member, you can always check the food search app. Or ask your Slimming World consultant. But another little tip for your cheese to stretch further, is to invest in fine grater like this Deiss Pro. But be careful, they’re very sharp!
Can I freeze Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese?
Yes, you absolutely freeze Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese! As long as you store it in freezeable containers, then you can freeze for up to 3 months.
I prefer to freeze the sauce separately, or you could merge the spaghetti and bolognese and reheat thoroughly in the microwave or hob.

HOW TO MAKE SLIMMING WORLD SPAGHEETI BOLOGNESE
Slimming World Spaghetti Bolognese – Syn Free
- 500 g 5% fat beef mince
- Low calorie cooking oil spray
- 1 onion diced
- 4 rashers bacon all fat removed & sliced
- 1 carrot peeled & diced
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tsp sage
- 130 g mushrooms
- 2 tsp basil
- 1 red pepper
- 500 ml passata
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 400 g tinned tomatoes
- 1 stockpot beef
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 320 g spaghetti cooked as per instructions
- 30 g parmesan grated. 1.5 syn each OR as can part of a Healthy Extra A.
- Spray a large lidded pan with frylight and cook the bacon strips. Then add the garlic, onions and pepper with some seasoning and saute until softenened.
- Now add the beef and sear until browned.
- Then add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil and stir.
- Now reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
- 20 minutes in, boil your spaghetti as per instructed on the packet then drain and portion out.
- Season the bolognese sauce to taste and spoon on top of the spaghetti. Then sprinkle with parmesan and enjoy!
