This chocolate and banana Nesquik pancakes recipe is as easy as 1,2,3! There's no need to worry about egg whites or flour. Just use some Nesquik powder, pancake mix and milk or water.

Whether it's Pancake Day, or pancakes are your favorite breakfast, these Nesquik banana and chocolate flavors really are fuss-free cooking at their best.
At the time of writing, Shrove Tuesday isn't far away. And as I've had a bottle of pancake mix in my cupboard for a few months, I thought I'd have some fun, use it up and share the love!
My husband is a big child at heart with a sweet tooth, and at his request, I made him these yummy chocolate banana pancakes with a Nutella filling and slices of fresh banana.

Check Your Frying Pan
I think a good non-stick frying pan or hot griddle pan is equally as important as the recipe itself. If it's lost its coating and is scratched and battered (excuse the pun), the pancake batter can get stuck in the all grooves and ruin your pancakes.
In this case, you'll likely need to use a bit more oil, or replace your pan. I've been using this Stellar Rocktanium frying pan for almost every recipe and it's never lost its coating.
🛒 Ingredients

Nestle Nesquik Chocolate - we used chocolate flavor, but you can also use banana or strawberry flavor for pink pancakes. Or have fun and mix them together!
Milk - this recipe uses cow's milk, but as many pancake mixes have powdered milk already in them, just adding cold water works too.
Pancake mix in a bottle - standard pancake mixes tend to be called "Pancake Shaker" in grocery stores and often come in 155g. Don't get too hung up on the quantity. You can buy plain American style pancakes, with added chocolate chips, Traditional crepe style, or even vegan.
Just follow the bottle's quantity and following my recipe card, you can adjust your Nestlé® Nesquik® Powder teaspoon quantity accordingly.
Oil - this is important for frying. We use olive oil as we always have it in, but you could use vegetable oil, cooking spray or coconut oil.
Please see the printable recipe card with exact ingredient quantities, nutritional daily values, and instructions at the bottom of this post.
📋Instructions

1. Shake the dry ingredients in the bottle to loosen, then add spoon the Nesquik to the pancake mix.

2. Now pour in your milk or water and close the lid. Then shake the wet ingredients for 2 minutes.

3. Add some oil to your frying pan and make sure you have a hot pan before pouring about 5 tablespoon of the mixture while tilting the pan.

4. Fry each side for 1-2 minutes until it's easy to flip with a spatula. Then repeat steps 3 & 4 until all your mixture is gone.
Tip: If you're concerned about your pancake sticking, I like to use a silicone spatula to tease the pancake away from underneath.
And don't attempt flipping a pancake until you know it's free from the base.

👩🍳Substitutions
Here's a few simple swaps you can make, depending on yours or your family's needs.
- Nesquik - if you can't find Nesquik, then half the amount of cocoa powder will work too for a chocolatey taste. Note, it has less sugar, but some chocolate syrup drizzled on top will make up for it. For bananas, you could use Banana Slimfast or other flavoured protein powders.
- Milk - as there's already powdered sugar and milk in pancake mixes, water is just fine. Alternatively, you can use plant-based milk or lactose free.
- Gluten Free Pancake Mix - at the time of writing, Nesquik claims to be gluten free. If this is a dietary requirement, then I recommend trying Becky's Gluten Free Pancakes.

⚖️Topping Variations
It was hard work deciding what to add on top of the pancakes because there are SO many ways to eat them.
But if you're struggling, here are a few breakfast ideas you could try!
- Butter and maple syrup drizzled on your stack of pancakes
- Strawberry syrup
- Nutella to enchance chocolate pancakes
- Fresh strawberries or other fresh fruits like blueberries
- Chocolate with peanut butter
- Nuts
- Fried apples
- Lemon with a bit of sugar
- Dark chocolate spread
- Apple butter
- Whip cream for a chantilly sauce
- Jam or compote
- Caramel sauce
- Pour batter onto bacon for pancake dippers
- Ice cream - perfect for kids!
We filled ours with Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread for double chocolate milk pancakes and slices of banana. Oh, and for leftovers, we had whipped cream in a can.
You can add 1 & ¼ teaspoon of Nesquik to my oatmeal pancakes or 2 teaspoon to my American plain pancakes which also uses baking powder.

❄️Storage
As we had leftovers, we found they store well in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
To reheat we placed them back in the frying pan and cooked them on the stove over the lowest heat for 10 minutes.
The chocolate was melted, the bananas toasted and the edges had started to crisp beautifully while caramelizing.
Kid Friendly Suggestions
- To enhance the colour and make them even more fun for kids' hot breakfast in the morning, you could add a couple of drops of food dye with no artificial colors to make blue pancakes, etc.
- If you're feedings lots of children, then you can stretch the mixture even further and cook mini pancakes using a smaller frying pan.
- For more wholesome pancakes, you could swap oatmeal for whole wheat flour in this recipe.
