Welcome to my Slimming World friendly 2.5 syn each chicken and chorizo gnocchi pasta in an oven baked tomato sauce.
If you’ve never tried gnocchi, it really is divine!
They can be addictive if you don’t limit your portions, but thankfully I can still enjoy them on Slimming World as a great little low syn dumpling.
They slip down soothingly like proper comfort food and I’ve been cooking them every which way since using them in my Slow Cooker Chicken & Dumpling Stew recipe the other week.
I love gnocchi so much, I’ve even made my own Syn Free version since using my Healthy Extra B. You can find that recipe here.
So here’s my new offering which has been requested since sharing it on Instagram. It’s got a little bit of everything I love while only being 2.5 syns each when serving between 4.
And I couldn’t resist slipping in a touch of chopped chorizo and cheese, followed by of course, gnocchi.
WHERE IS GNOCCHI IN THE STORE?
Most of the time, you will find gnocchi fresh in supermarket’s fridges along with the fresh pasta. The syns can also very from brand to brand by a fraction.
However, in other occasions, such as in Asda stores, you can also find them in the dried world food aisle. This is the pack I prefer at 2 syns per 100g.
HOW DO YOU COOK GNOCCHI?
In this instance, I cook mine directly in the tomato pasta sauce, leaving them soft and tender with a slight bite.
But alternatively, I simmer in a pan of hot water for around 3 minutes. They’re one of the quickest to cook pastas. Yet, if I’m making them from scratch, I place them in boiling water and scoop out once they float of the top.
TIP FOR STORING YOUR GNOCCHI LEFTOVERS
This gnocchi dish is perfect if for batching. You could even double the ingredients in a larger dish and prepare ahead. It can be stored in freezeable lidded containers and store in the freezer for around a month, or a fridge for up to five days. However, I would recommend chopping the chicken and stirring in to the sauce.
When defrosting, sometimes I cheat by heating through my meals in the microwave, similar to a ready meals. If I’m not in a rush, I leave them to defrost in the fridge.
Many meals do separate, but once they’re heated up, they usually combine back together.

IF IN DOUBT
I am in no way associated with Slimming World or trained to give advice. I’m just a regular paying member who loves to cook and eat great food that is as good for me as possible. I take a lot of time to develop and calculate the syns of my recipes.
At the time of publication, the syn information is accurate using their Food search and Syns Calculator tools. All of which are available via the Slimming World app. But, if you’re ever in doubt, always ask your consultant, or call the Slimming World Syns Hotline: 09068 518 518. Syn information can sometimes change to help protect your weight loss, and food manufacturers often change the ingredients they use.
