This incredibly easy Nutella cookies recipe is great to bake with children and enjoy dunking in your cup of tea! They're also ready in less than 25 minutes.

It's been so hard to resist not eating the remaining few from my easy Nutella cookies recipe. From the moment they were fresh out of the oven, we dipped them into our cups of tea.
And as they cooled and set into shortbread style cookies, they've been that little sweet something after yet another working from home day. And when not dunking in our tea, we also enjoyed them with some simple Nutella and icing sugar sprinkles.
They're so easy in fact, they are the perfect recipe to make with the family. And they have a bit of crunch, with an ever so slightly softer centre. You need to try them for yourself!

How To Make This Easy Nutella Cookies Recipe
First, you'll find a full ingredients list for my Nutella cookies recipe towards the bottom of this page. But to give you a brief idea, here's my guide in bullet points to give you an idea.
- Preheat your oven at 180 degrees Celcius and line a baking tray with a silicone baking mat
- Mix the butter, Nutella and caster sugar together in a mixing bowl. If you have a food processor, then this will be much easier
- Now beat in a small egg
- Then mix in the flour, baking powder and a pinch of sea salt
- Squish in the chocolate chips in
- If you're really patient, you could form into a ball, wrap with clingfilm and refrigerate to harden
- Then turn the Nutella cookie dough on a lightly floured surface, roll with a rolling pin to ¼" thick
- Cut with a cookie cutter, place on your lined tray and bake for 8-10 minutes

What Equipment Do I Need For This Nutella Cookies Recipe?
- Mixing bowl
- Weighing scales
- Wooden spoon
- Silicone baking mat - great for preventing cookies sticking
- Rolling pin - or you could roll some in your hands and press down on the sheet
- Star cookie cutter - the smaller the cutter, the fewer the calories
- Baking tray
- Cooling rack - these cookies will become firmer when cooled

Can I Use Self Raising Flour?
Yes, you can use self raising flour. Just omit the baking powder - or why not experiment?
Do I Need Baking Powder?
If you don't have baking powder, then try to use self raising flour instead of plain. I haven't made these without baking powder yet, but I can imagine it being a great (and true) shortbread Nutella biscuit.
If you do try without, then please let me know the results. I'd be very interested to see!

Could I Use Cocoa Powder Too?
If you prefer a darker chocolate biscuit, then one thing you could do it add cocoa powder or cacao powder.
You could replace some of the flour, for example, around a tablespoon. But I prefer to weigh my dry ingredients for accuracy.

Is This Nutella Cookies Recipe Healthy?
Whether these Nutella cookies are healthy or not is a matter of opinion. It obviously depends on what size cookie cutter you use, too. For example, I used a 40mm star cookie cutter and got 15 cookies, around 100 calories each.
If you omitted the chocolate chips and used a smaller cutter, then each cookie will be even less. Even 100 calories per cookie is acceptable as a treat on many Slimming plans.

Tips for Decorating These Nutella Cookies
I personally think these Nutella cookies are perfect on their own. And they're obviously easier to store in a cookie jar.
But seeing as you'll likely have a jar of Nutella to hand, we enjoyed the simplicity of spreading it on top. And then added some cheeky star icing sugar decorations.
Other ideas you could do are:
- Half dipping in melted chocolate adding sprinkles or crushed nuts
- Drizzle with icing sugar
- Or melted chocolate
- Spread vanilla frosting
